Solar Learning Kit Curriculum Outline

Core Curriculum minimum: 5 hours

Lesson 1: Solar Exploration

minimum 45min

Students learn how to identify the variables that affect the amount of electricity you get from a solar panel using mini solar cells and motors.

Lesson 2: Stand-Alone Solar Electric Systems

minimum 2hr

Students learn how a stand-alone solar electric system works and what the different components do by building the SLK.

Lesson 3: Voltage and Current

minimum 45min

Students learn how to measure voltage and current on the SLK using a digital multimeter.

Lesson 4: Power and Energy

minimum 45min

Students learn how to calculate amounts of power and energy.

Lesson 5: Design a Solar-Electric System

minimum 45min

Students learn the basics of solar-electric system design and begin the process of designing their own.
