Puon Penn is a private investor focusing on sustainability and impact investments especially in Southeast Asia. Puon spent over 20 years at Wells Fargo where he was most recently Executive Vice President and head of Wells Fargo’s venture investing business. Prior to that, he headed up the bank’s Technology Banking Group which provides expertise, financial services, and resources to help innovative companies advance new technologies and business models to solve complex global problems facing humanity, including population growth, climate change and environmental impacts, and the ongoing fight against diseases. In 2009, Puon started Wells Fargo’s Global CleanTech Group to help companies decrease the use of fossil fuels, fertilizers and industrial chemicals. Puon is currently on the advisory board for ImagineH2O, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting innovative water technology. He previously served on the board of Calstart, a non-profit dedicated to clean transportation issues, as well as the Water Council in Milwaukee which promotes water innovation and stewardship. Puon, a refugee from Cambodia, holds a BA from Reed College and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
