Nicholas Kristof of the New York Times just wrote a blog about our organization and made a wonderful suggestion. He encouraged readers to celebrate Mother’s Day by making a contribution to WE CARE Solar or other organizations dedicated to safe motherhood.

Not only do we LOVE this idea, we have beautiful mother’s day cards that we will send to donors that can be sent to your mother! Any U.S. or Canadian donor of $200 or more will receive a beautiful 8 X 10 photograph of Nigerian children that can be framed.

All donations will be entirely used for equipment – lighting and communication supplies for clinics and hospitals in Africa. Donations can be made through PayPal or by mail (please click on the PayPal button on the right or send checks by mail).

The Solar Suitcase

WE CARE Solar designs portable, cost-effective solar suitcases that power critical lighting, mobile communication devices and medical devices in low resource areas without reliable electricity.

By equipping off-grid medical clinics with solar power for medical and surgical lighting, walkie-talkies and essential medical devices, WE CARE Solar facilitates timely and appropriate emergency care, reducing maternal and infant morbidity and mortality and improving the quality of care in Africa, Haiti and other regions.

Donate to WE CARE Solar

WE CARE Solar promotes safe childbirth in developing countries. Your donations allow us to fulfill requests from clinics around the world in need of Solar Suitcases. Donations also help us integrate new medical applications for the Solar Suitcase, establish new markets, and build a network of local Solar Suitcase trainers and technicians. We welcome and appreciate your investment in our cause.
